The Atlanta Braves are looking to bolster their roster this winter following a disappointing postseason, primarily due to numerous injuries throughout the season. As free agency approaches and the trade market heats up, the Braves are likely to be active in seeking improvements.
One potential trade target is Taylor Ward, a slugger from the Los Angeles Angels, according to MLB Trade Rumors’ Anthony Franco.
Franco noted, “Whether they embrace a short-term reset or aim to balance their MLB roster without depleting one of the league’s weakest farm systems, moving Taylor Ward makes sense.” He also mentioned that the 30-year-old left fielder has been a topic of trade speculation since last offseason.
Teams like the Pittsburgh Pirates and Kansas City Royals might renew their interest in Ward, along with the Cincinnati Reds, Philadelphia Phillies, Braves, Toronto Blue Jays, and San Diego Padres, all of whom could be in the market for corner outfield help this winter.
In 2024, Ward played 156 games for the Angels, hitting 25 home runs and driving in 75 runs. He also hit 14 home runs in just 97 games in 2023 and 23 home runs in 2022. With an expected salary of over $8 million in 2025, adding a player like Ward could be advantageous for Atlanta, making a trade a feasible option.
