During the Boston College game at Lane Stadium last Thursday, Virginia Tech also welcomed recruits from the Class of 2025 and 2026. Among them was Brendon Haygood, a running back committed to Boise State for the Class of 2025, whom they are attempting to persuade to change his commitment.
On Sunday, Virginia Tech coach Brent Pry and his team secured another commitment for the Class of 2025. This new recruit has a brother already on the Hokies and is quite familiar with the program.
3-Star LB Brennan Johnson commits to Virginia Tech
Recruiting efforts in Virginia have been fruitful for the Hokies in the Class of 2025, despite Matthew Outten’s decommitment to Penn State in September. On Sunday afternoon, they secured another commitment from in-state three-star linebacker Brennan Johnson, the younger brother of current Hokie Braylon Johnson.
Brennan is ranked as the 30th player in Virginia for the Class of 2025 and had an impressive junior season, recording 120 tackles—18 for loss—along with four sacks and three forced fumbles. His performance earned him the title of 2023 Virginia Class 6 Defensive Player of the Year.
He also received offers from several schools, including Maryland, Ole Miss, Boston College, Penn State, Michigan State, Indiana, Miami, Duke, South Carolina, and Tennessee. He made a significant impression during his official visit to Virginia Tech in June.
Brennan is the 17th commitment for Coach Pry in the Class of 2025 and the 11th from Virginia. He will join fellow linebackers four-star Brett Clatterbaugh and three-star Noah Chambers. Other defensive recruits in this class for Virginia Tech include Sheldon Robinson (safety), Christian Evans (defensive lineman), Knahlij Harrell (cornerback), Zeke Chinwkie (edge), and Sherrod Henderson (edge). It’s likely that Brennan Johnson won’t be the last commitment for the upcoming season.
