Texas Defense Dealt Injury Blow For Vanderbilt Clash

Texas will be without one of its top players on Saturday.

To regain their momentum, Texas needs to win another top 25 matchup against No. 25 Vanderbilt on the road. Although the Commodores are often viewed as one of the weaker teams in the SEC, they’ve earned respect this season by defeating Alabama and Kentucky, boasting a 5-2 record.

If Texas hopes to return to form, it will need to succeed on Saturday without one of its key players. Star safety Andrew Mukuba will miss the game after suffering a knee injury during the loss to Georgia, as reported by Pete Nakos of On3 Sports.

Clemson Transfer Injured Saturday Night | The Clemson Insider

“Texas defensive back Andrew Mukuba has been ruled out for Saturday against No. 25 Vanderbilt, per SEC injury report,” Nakos stated on X, formerly Twitter. “Clemson transfer with 25 tackles and 2 interceptions this season.”

Mukuba is a crucial playmaker on Texas’s defense and was a significant addition for Steve Sarkisian during the offseason transfer period. The good news is that Mukuba’s injury does not appear to be severe, but he will be sidelined for at least one game.
