It might not have been his ideal performance, but it certainly was his defining moment. For Buffalo Bills kicker Tyler Bass, that moment came with just five seconds left on the clock when he nailed a 61-yard field goal to lift his team to a 30-27 victory over the Miami Dolphins at Highmark Stadium.
Division games are always tough, and the Bills’ offense had a sluggish start, with two of their first three possessions ending in a punt and an interception. But after a field goal, the offense found its rhythm with three consecutive touchdown drives, setting the stage for Bass.
Earlier in the game, Bass had missed an extra point and seen a kick hit the upright and bounce in, so his confidence could have easily been shaken. But when it mattered most, he stepped up and delivered the game-winning kick from 61 yards out. His quarterback, Josh Allen, couldn’t have been more proud of his clutch performance.
“So proud of him, so happy for him,” Josh Allen said. “I got emotional in my little postgame speech out there, just thinking about everything he’s been through this year. Missing one early in the game, hitting the pole on another, and he could’ve easily let that get to him.

But then he comes through with a 61-yard field goal to win the game against a division rival. That’s the kind of stuff stories are made of. I love him, I respect him so much, and everybody in that locker room is so happy for him. He’s our guy.”
Josh’s heartfelt words have since gone viral, resonating with fans everywhere.
With the Bills completing the season sweep of the Dolphins to improve to 7-2 on the year, the AFC East title feels almost within their grasp after nine weeks. Buffalo finished with 325 total yards of offense, with Josh Allen going 25-for-39 for 235 yards, three touchdowns, and an interception.
The running game was once again led by James Cook, who rushed for 40 yards on 10 carries, contributing to the Bills’ total of 94 rushing yards on the day.
