The Kansas City Chiefs experienced their first loss of 2024 on Sunday to the Buffalo Bills. Despite only having one loss, their quest for the top seed in the AFC became significantly harder, as they now lead Buffalo by just half a game.
A major issue in the defeat was the Chiefs’ passing attack. Patrick Mahomes threw for only 198 yards, with three touchdowns and two interceptions.
Although Mahomes appeared to be developing a strong connection with DeAndre Hopkins recently, the pair combined for just 29 yards against Buffalo. Rookie Xavier Worthy had one of his best games of the season, recording 61 receiving yards and a touchdown.
However, aside from Worthy, no other receiver surpassed 50 yards. In light of this underperformance, the Chiefs may be looking to strengthen their receiving corps.
On Monday, Kansas City signed 2022 second-round pick Tyquan Thornton to their practice squad, just days after his release by the New England Patriots.
