Chris Cenac Jr., ranked as the No. 1 center in the Class of 2025 by ESPN100, has committed to join the Houston Cougars.
The five-star prospect shared his decision on Tuesday through the Bleacher Report’s B/R App.
Although Cenac had initially planned to announce his choice in the spring, his outstanding performance on the Puma Pro 16 circuit with Dallas-based YGC over the summer significantly boosted his ranking, propelling him into the national top 10.
Standing at 6-foot-10, New Orleans native Chris Cenac Jr. was reportedly weighing offers from LSU, Auburn, Arkansas, Baylor, Kentucky, Tennessee, and others before deciding to join Houston Cougars head coach Kelvin Sampson’s program.
“I really like the coaching staff, their development plan, and being part of a winning program,” Cenac told 247Sports. “I’m excited to contribute, help them win more, and focus on improving to be ready for the next level.”
With a .9978 rating from 247Sports Composite, Cenac is now the highest-rated commit in Houston’s modern recruiting history, as noted by several outlets.
“They see me as a versatile four who can play all over the court,” Cenac explained. “I can rebound, push the ball, shoot, and contribute from anywhere on the floor.”
Cenac’s commitment bolsters an already stellar Houston 2025 class, which includes five-star shooting guard Isaiah Harwell, four-star point guard Kingston Flemings, and three-star wing Bryce Jackson. The Cougars’ recruiting class is now ranked No. 2 nationally by both 247Sports and ESPN.
