The Detroit Red Wings have called up goaltender Sebastian Cossa from the Grand Rapids Griffins following another injury to a goalie.
Cam Talbot was hurt during the second period of Sunday’s game, which led to Ville Husso stepping in as the replacement. Husso had been recalled earlier from Grand Rapids due to Alex Lyon’s injury last week. Head coach Derek Lalonde confirmed that Lyon will miss the team’s upcoming road games against Boston and Ottawa.
Cossa, 22, was drafted by the Red Wings in 2021. In 14 games with Grand Rapids, he has a 9-4 record, with a 2.21 goals-against average and a .925 save percentage.
Last year, in 40 games, he had a 22-9 record and 2.41 goals-against average.
The Red Wings play in Boston on Tuesday and in Ottawa on Thursday before coming home against the Avalanche on Saturday.
