As the Texas Tech Red Raiders, under coach Joey McGuire, continue preparing for the 2025 season, a former wide receiver is making waves elsewhere in Texas.
On Thursday, news emerged from College Station about Micah Hudson’s emotional announcement regarding his immediate future in football. According to On3’s Pete Nakos, Hudson has decided to take a break from the Texas A&M football team’s daily activities. No specific reasons for his decision were provided by either Hudson or the program.
Nakos further reported that Hudson is still listed on the active roster as of now. With spring football just around the corner, both Hudson and the program will need to make a decision about his future in the sport soon.
Hudson was originally part of Texas Tech’s 2024 recruiting class and earned high school All-American honors. The Temple, Texas, native missed a significant portion of last offseason’s program while recovering from a knee injury, which impacted his ability to move up the depth chart in a competitive receiver group.
As a result, Hudson found himself behind Caleb Douglas, who had an impressive regular season, finishing second on the team with 55 receptions, 762 yards, and tying for the team lead with six touchdowns.
