The Buffalo Bills are well aware of the danger Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson presents.
Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is considered one of the most dangerous players in football, a fact Buffalo Bills linebacker Von Miller fully recognizes as the teams prepare for their AFC Divisional matchup at Highmark Stadium.
In a recent podcast with Las Vegas Raiders edge rusher Maxx Crosby, Miller discussed the challenge of containing Jackson. He emphasized the need for a balanced pass rush to effectively neutralize the dynamic quarterback. During their Week 4 loss to Baltimore, in which the Bills fell 35-10, Miller only played nine defensive snaps before starting his four-game suspension.
“Going against Lamar Jackson, you don’t want to rush too conservatively, but you also don’t want to be too reckless,” Miller explained on the Bills’ team website. “You just gotta play your game… Cage rushing those guys every play doesn’t work. It’s Lamar Jackson, he’s going to make plays. So, you gotta rush, and be mindful of where and how you’re rushing. But at the end of the day, just play your game.”
In that win over Buffalo, Ravens running back Derrick Henry dominated the Bills’ defense. While Buffalo’s defensive coordinator, Sean McDermott, will likely focus on preventing this from happening again, it could leave opportunities for Jackson to shine even more. In that game, Jackson completed 13 of 18 passes for 156 yards and two touchdowns, while also rushing six times for 54 yards and another score.
While the Ravens leaned heavily on their running game, Jackson is more than capable of getting into a high-scoring battle with the Bills’ star quarterback Josh Allen.
Something will have to give when these two teams meet at Orchard Park on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. ET.
