During his return to the lineup, Kiyan Anthony, a 2025 four-star commit to Syracuse basketball, has played a key role in getting his high school team back on track in their pursuit of qualifying for the Chipotle Nationals. The 6-foot-5 guard, ranked among the top 30 national prospects in the senior class by On3, had missed several games earlier in the 2024-25 season due to injury. As a result, his team, Long Island Lutheran High School in Brookville, N.Y., struggled in the early part of the season.
However, that’s no longer the case. Anthony, who is considered a top-10 shooting guard in his class, has been performing strongly lately, and Long Island Lutheran is now on a 12-game winning streak, as reported by the media. This includes an impressive victory at a showcase in the Baltimore area last weekend, which was hosted by Kiyan’s father, Syracuse basketball legend and former NBA star Carmelo Anthony.
The Crusaders started the 2024-25 season with a 3-5 record. However, Long Island Lutheran has since improved to 15-5, according to the MaxPreps website, with several wins against other elite high school teams.
