The Kansas City Chiefs are expected to see significant roster changes this offseason, following three consecutive Super Bowl appearances (winning two).
Despite this, the AFC champions remain a “destination” team, thanks to the dynamic duo of Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid, who are considered one of the best quarterback-head coach pairings in football.
This makes the team an attractive place to work. With many of Mahomes’ receivers set to hit free agency, including DeAndre Hopkins, Marquise Brown, and Juju Smith-Schuster, the Chiefs may find themselves relying on Xavier Worthy and Rashee Rice in 2025.
However, what if they added a third option? Ian Valentine from The 33rd Team suggests that the Chiefs could target Keenan Allen, who has spent 11 seasons playing against Kansas City.
Valentine notes that swapping the underwhelming Hopkins for Allen might be a good move for the Chiefs, especially given the uncertainty surrounding Brown and Rice.
Allen could provide another reliable slot receiver at a reasonable price, with an $11.1 million average annual value (APY), which could be lowered if he is willing to take a pay cut for a chance at a Super Bowl.
Despite a slight dip in production with rookie quarterback Caleb Williams last season, Allen’s performance remains strong. This potential move could be a good fit for Kansas City and general manager Brett Veach.
