Chiefs Confirmed Perfect Target To Boost Their Corps Of Running Back

The scouting combine in Indianapolis is wrapping up, and there’s plenty of speculation about teams’ strategies in free agency and the draft.

For the Kansas City Chiefs, the major buzz at the combine revolved around Travis Kelce’s return for the 2025 season. However, there’s also some noteworthy information concerning their running back situation.

Dianna Roussini from The Athletic, like other credentialed media, shared a list of insights she gathered throughout the week, including the possibility that the Chiefs could be looking to sign a veteran running back.

“They could be in the market to add a veteran running back, as well,” Roussini wrote. With Kareem Hunt set to become a free agent and Isiah Pacheco not performing as expected after his injury, the Chiefs are in need of a reliable option. Some potential candidates include Nick Chubb, Najee Harris, and Aaron Jones, all of whom would be strong additions to the backfield.

Chubb, recovering from a knee injury, only managed 332 yards and three touchdowns in eight games last season. Harris, on the other hand, achieved his fourth consecutive 1,000-yard rushing season. Meanwhile, Jones, in his first year with the Minnesota Vikings, also surpassed 1,000 yards and scored five rushing touchdowns, his highest since 2020.
