The New Orleans Pelicans have announced a new injury update for Brandon Boston Jr.
New Orleans Pelicans forward Brandon Boston was hoping to make his return to the court this week against the Los Angeles Lakers. The former second-round pick from the University of Kentucky was upgraded to questionable for the game, but the Pelicans ultimately ruled him out before tipoff.
On Friday, the team announced that Boston has been diagnosed with a left ankle stress injury. He will be re-evaluated in two weeks, with further updates to follow. The Pelicans have struggled with injuries throughout the season, contributing to their current 17-46 record.
Brandon Boston was initially signed by the New Orleans Pelicans on a two-way contract earlier this season. However, after a strong performance, the Pelicans converted his two-way deal into a standard contract. The 6-foot-6 forward has appeared in 42 games for New Orleans, starting in 10 of them.

For the season, Boston is averaging 10.7 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game. He began his NBA career with the Los Angeles Clippers in 2021, playing in 105 games and averaging 6.5 points per game. After a brief stint with the San Antonio Spurs, he was waived and eventually signed by the Pelicans this season.
New Orleans has been plagued by significant injuries this season, with Zion Williamson, Herb Jones, Trey Murphy III, Dejounte Murray, and CJ McCollum all missing time. Former Pelicans forward Brandon Ingram also dealt with a major ankle injury that kept him sidelined for over two months before being traded to the Toronto Raptors ahead of the trade deadline.
The Pelicans will travel to Houston to take on the Rockets on Saturday evening.
