Breaking: New Packers Signing Sends Message to GB Coaches Ahead of Arrival

The Green Bay Packers recognize the need to improve this offseason to solidify themselves as a top contender in the NFC.

As the legal tampering period began on Monday, the Packers made two significant moves. They strengthened their offensive line by signing guard Aaron Banks to a four-year, $77 million contract, providing crucial protection for quarterback Jordan Love. Additionally, they reinforced their secondary by adding cornerback Nate Hobbs on a four-year, $48 million deal, which includes $16 million guaranteed.

After agreeing to terms with Green Bay, Nate Hobbs shared his excitement in a phone call with Josina Anderson. “I’m ecstatic. It has not sunk in yet. I’m still dumbfounded by the opportunity, and I am ready to get to work. Being in that division and facing those quarterbacks, I feel like I’m ready for anything in the NFC North, and I am going in with a lot of confidence. It prepared me for this.”

Hobbs entered the NFL as a fifth-round pick in the 2021 draft by the Las Vegas Raiders and developed into a dependable defender in the secondary. Over 51 career games (38 starts), the Illinois product has compiled 281 total tackles, 14 tackles for loss, 19 pass deflections, and three interceptions.

Hobbs also brings valuable versatility to the secondary, with the ability to play both inside and outside. With uncertainty surrounding Jaire Alexander’s future, the Packers needed to strengthen their cornerback depth.

Green Bay was impressed with what Hobbs showcased on film and views him as a key addition to the defense. At just 25 years old, he joins a young and talented secondary alongside Evan Williams (24), Keisean Nixon (27), Xavier McKinney (26), and Javon Bullard (22).

With this group of emerging playmakers, the Packers have built a strong foundation in the secondary, and Hobbs is ready to make an immediate impact.
