New York Giants tight end Theo Johnson appeared to be heading for a promising rookie season until a foot injury cut his progress short.
The fourth-round draft pick sustained a Lisfranc injury during the Thanksgiving game against the Dallas Cowboys, prematurely ending his first season before he could fully establish himself. Before the injury, Johnson’s role in the Giants’ offense was growing as he started to claim the tight end position.
Despite missing the last five games of the season, Theo Johnson is making progress in his recovery and has been cleared to run, according to Ryan Dunleavy of The New York Post.
The Giants head into the offseason with a tight end group that offers reasonable depth, though it lacks excitement. Supporting Johnson on the depth chart are Daniel Bellinger, Chris Manhertz, and Greg Dulcich.
