Iowa State’s head gymnastics coach, Ashley Miles Greig, has announced the advancement of assistant coach Ryan Snider to the position of associate head coach.
Miles Greig expresses her enthusiasm for Snider’s promotion, highlighting his coaching expertise and his integral role in the team’s success during her tenure.
She emphasizes Snider’s commitment to fostering positive relationships with the athletes and creating an environment conducive to personal growth, qualities that make him well-suited for his new role. Looking ahead, she anticipates continued collaboration with Snider to achieve further accomplishments for Cyclone Gymnastics.
Entering his second season with the Cyclones, Snider primarily focuses on coaching gymnasts in bars and vault while also contributing to daily training activities. In his debut season, Iowa State made a significant comeback to the postseason, with Snider’s guidance contributing to the team’s notable rise in rankings.
Notably, the Cyclones experienced the most significant leap in rankings nationwide, ascending from 44th to 29th by the season’s end. Snider also played a role in enhancing the spectator experience, contributing to record-breaking attendance at Hilton Coliseum during a match against Iowa.
Under Snider’s coaching, the vault squad achieved notable success, earning high rankings and setting a season-best score against BYU. Snider brings valuable experience from his previous role at the University of Pittsburgh, where he helped athletes achieve program-best performances in bars and vault.
Looking ahead, Iowa State aims to capitalize on the momentum of the successful 2024 season as they prepare to return to Hilton Coliseum for another year of Cyclone Gymnastics.
