The Pittsburgh Steelers are still pursuing Aaron Rodgers, who is also hoping for an offer from the Minnesota Vikings and has received a more lucrative deal from the New York Giants than the one offered by the Steelers.
According to Steelers insider Gerry Dulac, Pittsburgh is offering Rodgers a one-year contract. While the exact amount hasn’t been disclosed, Dulac mentions that the team plans to sign whichever veteran quarterback they acquire to a one-year deal.
“Two things are certain: Regardless of which option they choose, no quarterback they bring in will get more than a one-year contract. That’s what the Steelers are offering Rodgers. Sources indicated that the delay in discussions with Rodgers isn’t about money,” Dulac wrote.
Mike Silver of The Athletic reports that Rodgers is seeking a salary similar to Sam Darnold’s, around $33 million annually.
It’s unclear whether Rodgers prefers a one- or two-year deal, but that may be more than the Steelers are willing to offer. Meanwhile, the New York Giants are also awaiting Rodgers’ decision this offseason.
