The Detroit Red Wings might make changes to their roster in the offseason as they fight for a playoff spot.
Regardless of whether they make the playoffs, Detroit is focused on improving its team. NHL analyst Michael DeRosa from NHLTradeRumors suggests the Red Wings could target Jean-Gabriel Pageau of the New York Islanders in a trade this offseason.
“Strengthening their center position should be a priority for the Red Wings, as they clearly need more depth,” DeRosa explained. “Acquiring Pageau could be a good fit for their middle six, as he offers both offensive production and strong defensive play. His two-way abilities would also make him a viable option for both the power play and penalty kill.”

Pageau is currently in the fifth year of a six-year, $30 million contract with the Islanders. If the Red Wings trade for him in the offseason, he would serve as a one-year rental and would likely be their third-line center.
This season, Pageau has recorded 12 goals and 23 assists, totaling 35 points in 63 games with the Islanders.
