Just In: Pete Alonso Predicted To Sign $100 Million Deal With NL Powerhouse Next Offseason.

The New York Mets had an eventful offseason, highlighted by signing Juan Soto to a massive contract worth nearly $800 million. After extensive negotiations, they also secured a new deal with Pete Alonso.

As the season approaches, the Mets appear more than ready to compete. The Athletic’s Jim Bowden recently shared his predictions for the upcoming MLB season, including one about Alonso’s future.

According to Bowden, Alonso is expected to opt out of his contract after the season but will ultimately return to the Mets. “Pete Alonso opts out of his contract with the Mets after the season but quickly re-signs on a three-year, $100 million deal with a mutual option for a fourth year,” Bowden wrote.

It seems unlikely that Pete Alonso would opt out of his contract unless he believes he can secure a deal significantly larger than the $100 million figure suggested by Bowden. His free agency process was already stressful, and he ultimately signed for much less than his reported asking price.

Taking another gamble by re-entering free agency could be risky, but if Alonso delivers another dominant season, the equation might change. To boost his market value, he would likely need to hit at least 40 home runs. However, if he has a mediocre season, it’s almost certain that he will choose to opt into his player option for 2026.
