The Pittsburgh Steelers are currently a playoff-bound team, but they lack a quarterback, though that situation might change soon.
The NFL draft is approaching later this month, and Pittsburgh holds the No. 21 overall pick, which could be used to select a quarterback or as part of a trade to move up and secure one earlier in the draft.
However, Brad Gagnon from Bleacher Report predicted on April 2 that the Steelers will soon wrap up their prolonged pursuit of free agent Aaron Rodgers with a signed contract in the near future.
“All signs indicate that Pittsburgh is the likely destination, as the Steelers, who could be competitive, have lost Russell Wilson and Justin Fields and don’t have the draft capital to make a significant move,” Gagnon wrote. “It seems that the two sides are heading toward a deal, but with someone as unpredictable as Rodgers, it’s hard to say for sure.”

When asked about the possibility of acquiring Rodgers, Pittsburgh owner Art Rooney II told reporters on Tuesday that the signs are “pointing in that direction.” Rodgers also recently had a private workout with wide receiver DK Metcalf, whom the Steelers traded for and then signed to a $132 million extension this offseason.
Rodgers, who will turn 42 in December, spent the last two seasons with the New York Jets before they released him this spring with one year left on his $112.5 million contract. A four-time NFL MVP and 10-time Pro Bowler, Rodgers last earned both honors after the 2021 season.
